Wing

The Economics Wing

Economics graduates recruit into research itself: pre-doctoral fellowships at universities, research assistant and analyst roles at central banks and policy institutions, and the doctoral applications those roles feed. This wing covers that territory end to end, and teaches the econometrics the interviews test, in guided steps with a check at every step.

The landscape, the timeline, and the opening briefing of every part are free in full. The rest of the wing opens with the Economics Domain Pass. The econometrics drill bank, twelve scored interpretation items, is open practice on the practice floor.

The Research Landscape

Research work after graduation runs through two doors: pre-doctoral fellowships built as a bridge to a doctorate, and research assistant and analyst roles at central banks, research institutes, and universities. This level maps both doors, the institutions behind them, and the titles that hide the same job under different names.

  • Pre-doctoral fellowships and research assistantships: what each one is and whom it serves
  • Central banks, universities, and policy institutions as employers of research staff
  • Where international institutions and research networks hire
  • The title problem: fellow, assistant, analyst, and associate naming overlapping work

Next step: Open Econ 2 and put the landscape on a calendar, then build the record the hiring committees read.

Timeline and Positioning

Research hiring runs on the academic year, and the decisive asset is a record built over several semesters: methods coursework, research experience, and faculty letters that certify research ability. This level lays out the calendar by class year, the record a committee reads, and the interview formats that test it.

  • The research calendar by class year, and where each window opens
  • The transcript lines that carry weight: econometrics, statistics, and mathematics
  • Research experience as a ladder, from a campus assistantship to a writing sample
  • The research interview: a conversation on your work, a data task, and a design critique

Next step: Open Econ 3 and learn to read empirical work the way the interview tests it.

Econometrics at Interview Depth

Economics destinations test the discipline itself. This module teaches the econometrics core at the depth interviews and applications reach: reading a regression table without superstition, signing the bias in a flawed comparison, and naming the research design that earns a causal claim. Every briefing is paired with scored drills in the wing's bank.

  • Reading a regression table: coefficients, standard errors, intervals, and fit
  • Omitted variables: why a comparison misleads, and in which direction
  • Designs that earn causal claims: randomization, differences in differences, fixed effects, instruments
  • Elasticities and units: the data reasoning screens actually run

Next step: Run the econometrics drill bank on the practice floor and let the scores name the next briefing.
